Loving Sairam Dear All,

Happy and Holy Maha Shivarathri to you and your family..

The day when man is able to experience the divine state of being-awareness-bliss (sath-chith-ananda) is really the holy day of Sivarathri. Till then, man is in perpetual darkness. Until a fruit ripens on a tree, its juice is not sweet. When the fruit is fully ripe, it drops from the tree. Attachment to the tree is gone. Likewise, when a man achieves spiritual maturity, he acquires detachment (vairagya) automatically. Man has to endeavour to reach this level of maturity by spiritual practices that transform his consciousness. Turn your minds toward the Divine. Repetition of the Lord's names has been prescribed as a spiritual discipline to turn your mind away from the things of the world. If you devote the whole of this night to thoughts about the Lord, your minds will be transformed, even if you are not able to reach the highest state of "Over-Mind". Ever bearing in mind the triple characteristics of the Divine --Truth, Wisdom, Eternal Brahman (Sathyam, Jnanam, Anantham Brahman)-- strive to achieve the supreme goal of Man.

-Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Feb 16 1988

The sacred festival of Maha Shivarathri is just around the corner and devotees around SSSGC Zone 1 and the Sai world are gearing up for one of the most auspicious nights of the year. This night of the new moon is symbolic of a mind that, just like the moon, has only one among 16 aspects active. It is said that it is only in the depths of silence that the voice of God can be heard. On the night of Maha Shivarathri, this silence of the mind makes it very easy for the devotee to attune himself or herself to Swami's eternal presence in us and around us by redirecting the mind toward the various names and the forms of the Sarva Devata Ateeta Swaroopa, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Let us all take this opportunity to use our body and mind in singing His glories together in our respective Sai centers and pray for the welfare of all beings in all worlds.

Below is a beautiful link to a must-see documentary made by the Sri Sathya Sai Media Centre as a centenary offering, explaining more about the significance of this festival and its important role in His Story.

Prasanthi Connection

Our Connection with The Abode of Highest Peace

Prasanthi Nilayam means 'the abode of highest peace'. It is the main ashram of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, located near the village of Puttaparthi amidst rolling hills, with the river Chitravathi to its east. The valley houses the divine sannidhi (sanctum) of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Sai Kulwant Hall, bhajan mandir, residential complexes, the headquarters of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, its allied institutions.

By the divine grace of Beloved Baba our SSSGC Zone1 has recently taken up a new initiative "Prasanthi Connection" through which we will be sharing all important initiatives & updates from Prasanthi Nilayam.

Prasanthi Connection Team members will also strive hard to facilitate and help the devotees (of Zone1) with the logistics in Prasanthi Nilalayam.
