Sai Inspires - Latest Updates

Loving Sairam Dear All,

Please find some of the exciting programs taking place within SSSGC Zone-1(USA, Canada and Trinidad & Tobago). Wishing everyone a Happy and Holy Guru Poornima.

What is the true significance of the festival of Guru Poornima? Bhagawan, our Loving Lord and Guru, explains clearly and grants us His benediction today.

Guru Poornima is a name full of meaning. Poornima means the effulgent full moon. Guru means (Gu - ignorance; Ru - destroyer), he who removes the darkness and delusion from the heart and illumines it with the higher wisdom. The Moon and the mind are interrelated, as object and image. On this day, the Moon is full, fair and cool; its light is fresh, pleasant and peaceful. So the light of the mind too, must be pleasing and pure. This is the message of the day. In the firmament of your heart, the Moon is the mind. There are clouds there, thick and heavy sensual desires and worldly activities, which mar your joy at the light of the Moon. Therefore, let the strong breeze of love scatter the clouds and confer on you the cool glory of moonlight. When devotion shines in full, the sky in the heart becomes a bowl of beauty and life is transformed into a charming avenue of Ananda. That beauty of heart, that Ananda (bliss) in life can be won through the mind, if the lesson of this day is remembered and realised!

Teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba - Vol.1

Sri Sathya Sai Baba, one of the most revered spiritual teachers in the world and regarded by His devotees as an Avatar (Incarnation of God in human form), was born in a tiny hamlet in South India on November 23, 1926.

He exhibited unconditional love and compassion towards all beings and undertook massive humanitarian projects to uplift all people in need. He did not come to establish a new religion but encouraged people to practise their own religion and to respect all faiths as they all lead to the same goal.

During His sojourn on Earth, Sri Sathya Sai Baba delivered several thousand discourses, most of which were subsequently compiled in Sathya Sai Speaks and Summer Showers. He also wrote articles for His devotees in the monthly periodical Sanathana Sarathi, which were later published in 16 books under the Vahini series.

Through His discourses and writings, Sri Sathya Sai Baba showed us how to spiritually transform ourselves by practising His universal teachings so that we continue our journey towards liberation from the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth.

We are very fortunate to have recognised Sri Sathya Sai Baba as an Avatar as a result of good karmas we accumulated over many, many previous lives. Let us not miss this chance to transform ourselves by practising His teachings. Below are a few quotes to help us on our journey:

(1) Your lives are intertwined with My earthly career. Act always in accordance with that great privilege. (Sathya Sai Speaks, Volume 2, Chapter 18: Sarvathah Paani Paadhah.)

(2) Make the best use of the grace of Sai to change your lives. Do not let slip this glorious chance to make your devotion the means of your liberation. (Sathya Sai Speaks, Volume 17, Chapter 15: The Bliss of Divine Love.)

(3) Cultivate nearness to Me in the heart, and you will be rewarded. Then you, too, will acquire a fraction of the Supreme prema (love). This is a great chance. This chance will not come your way again; beware of that. If you cannot, if you do not cross the sea of grief now, taking hold of this chance, when again can you get such a chance? Really, you are the fortunate few; out of millions and millions of people, you have come, though no one specially invited you to be present here. That is what I call the mark of destiny. (Sathya Sai Speaks, Volume 4, Chapter 31: How Old Are You Really?)

(4) The scriptures teach that life is unfortunately short. So, the Bhagavad Gita advises man to appreciate three facts: (i) To be born as a human being is a precious opportunity; (ii) To yearn to realise God is another precious piece of good luck; (iii) The greatest good fortune is the chance to be in the presence of God, to be immersed in the service of God, and to be engaged in fulfilling Divine commands. (Sathya Sai Speaks, Volume 15, Chapter 46: Refrain from Asking.)

In one of His Divine discourses, Sri Sathya Sai Baba said: “Practise what I teach; that is enough. That is all I ask.” Let us therefore read and practise His teachings in our daily lives to reach the ultimate goal in life.

We are pleased to offer our readers Teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Volume 1. It includes the topic, “Grace of God.” The quotations are selected from Sathya Sai Speaks, Summer Showers, the Vahinis and Sanathana Sarathi.

With Swami's Grace, SSS Loudoun, and SSS Bethesda, in collaboration with ICNA and the Fairfax County Health Department, successfully organized a medical camp on June 14, 2025, in Alexandria, VA. The event evaluated 54 clients through comprehensiveb screenings, including hemoglobin, fasting glucose, HbA1c, and lipid profiles for those with risk factors.

During the camp, we identified three new diabetics, two with blood sugar levels over 306 anemic patients, with one exhibiting elevated hemoglobin. Additionally, three clients were found to have high blood pressure.

Clients had access to consultations with various specialists, including endocrinologists, nephrologists, hematologists-oncologists, OB-GYNs, gastroenterologists, dentists, and physical therapists. The Inova blood donation drive was also part of the event, where 26 volunteers were screened, and 21 successfully donated blood. Inova team members facilitated enrollment for cancer screening services for breast and colon cancer, while Fairfax County representatives guided eligible clients through health insurance enrollment.

We were honored to serve the community and provided both hot breakfast and lunch for volunteers and attendees.

Prasanthi Nilayam means 'the abode of highest peace'. It is the main ashram of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, located near the village of Puttaparthi amidst rolling hills, with the river Chitravathi to its east. The valley houses the divine sannidhi (sanctum) of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Sai Kulwant Hall, bhajan mandir, residential complexes, the headquarters of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, its allied institutions.

By the divine grace of Beloved Baba our SSSGC Zone1 has recently taken up a new initiative "Prasanthi Connection" through which we will be sharing all important initiatives & updates from Prasanthi Nilayam.

Prasanthi Connection Team members will also strive hard to facilitate and help the devotees (of Zone1) with the logistics in Prasanthi Nilalayam.
