EASWARAMMA – The Chosen Mother

Easwaramma Day is an annual celebration held to honor and remember the mother of beloved Sathya Sai Baba. Easwaramma was a pious and pure village lady who over the years had to broaden her concept of love, expanding it beyond the confines of family and community to embrace all as the phenomena of Sai Baba attracted more and more people. During this time she was confronted with His teaching which challenged the confines of her understanding of religion, ultimately enabling her to see and accept all as One. The day honors the principle of motherhood and the role the mother plays as the child's first teacher. It is also observed as Children's Day, as children were her particular concern.

Our goal during these Regional Retreats is to tune our minds to see and treat all with the same love and respect we have for Swami and His devotees. To practice this thought repeatedly and to incorporate and assimilate this mindful tactic or muscle memory into our system.
